Former Miami Grand Prix president Tyler Epp has joined Cadillac’s new Formula 1 team as its global head of commercial strategy.
Epp had been the president of the Miami race since 2022 but it was announced last week that he has accepted a position elsewhere and would be replaced by Katharina Nowak. That new destination has now been confirmed as Cadillac, where Epp will lead the incoming F1 team’s commercial operations.
“I’ve spent so much of my career in racing, and the past several years helping redefine what American motorsports can be,” Epp said. “I can’t think of a more exciting and promising opportunity to galvanize our sport in the United States and beyond than this one. The Cadillac Formula 1 Team is poised to become a global force in F1 that’s rooted in American tradition and ingenuity. I’m incredibly proud to join this effort from the very beginning.”
Epp had been leading the motorsport business alongside Tom Garfinkel in Miami since the inaugural race in 2022 – originally as senior vice president and chief operating officer – and prior to that had been involved with Kansas City Chiefs as VP of business development and executive VP of business operations.
With Epp having helped Miami establish itself as a new race in F1 and earn a contract extension until 2041, TWG Motorsports and Cadillac F1 team CEO Dan Towriss says his track record made him the perfect fit for the sport’s newest entrant.
“We could not have found a better leader and visionary to build out the commercial arm of our team,” Towriss said. “His work shaping the Miami Grand Prix into one of the marquee events on the Formula 1 calendar demonstrates his unique command of the sport domestically and worldwide.”
Although he also has prior motorsport experience in NASCAR and IndyCar, Epp’s record in delivering a successful new event was also highlighted by Cadillac team principal Graeme Lowdon, as the General Motors-supported team prepares to join the grid in 2026.
“It requires incredible leadership to successfully build a team from the ground up, and it takes someone exceptional to execute the type of vision and ambitions we have for the Cadillac Formula 1 Team,” Lowdon said. “Tyler has a proven track record of cultivating organizations that set the standard in Formula 1, and I’m confident that his operational expertise will be a critical asset to our organization.”
